Courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA)

As part of our efforts to improve access to quality primary healthcare in Nigeria, our Executive Vice Chair, Mrs Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Kelechi Ohiri. The visit focused on exploring collaborative strategies to expand insurance coverage to underserved populations in Nigeria.

During the meeting, she commended him on the significant achievements recorded during his first year in office, particularly the increase in national health insurance enrollment from 16.5 million to 19.7 million beneficiaries. They discussed potential areas for strategic collaboration between the Foundation and the NHIA, focusing on initiatives aimed at increasing health insurance coverage in rural communities and the informal sector.

The meeting reaffirmed our commitment to strengthening primary healthcare systems and expanding access to essential health services across Africa.
