PRS Training: Enhancing Evidence-Based Policy Making
We believe that evidenced based planning, policy making and performance monitoring in government is essential to improving service delivery for citizens. In line with this, we proudly supported the OHCSF in organising a customised training programme to address critical skill gaps in the Planning, Research, and Statistics (PRS) Departments across Federal Ministries.
As part of our commitment to strengthening public institutions in Africa, we developed a training programme, in partnership with the OHCSF and the Central Result Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), to close key skill gaps and address challenges within the Planning, Research, and Statistics (PRS) Departments of Federal Ministries.
The programme brought together 150 participants from 10 key Federal Ministries, where government actions most directly affect citizens. The training equipped participants with advanced skills in data analysis, policy alignment, and performance monitoring. Through practical, hands-on sessions, they strengthened their ability to analyse data, track government programmes, and ensure initiatives deliver real outcomes.
The PRS Departments are central to strategic planning, research, policy formulation, and performance evaluation within the Federal Civil Service. This programme strengthens these vital functions by building capacity to provide evidence-based insights that promote transparency, accountability, and effective public service delivery.
Equipping public servants with stronger skills in data use and policy alignment will improve how government plans are developed, tracked, and implemented. As a result, we expect to see a public service that is more accountable and effective, a service that delivers clearer, smarter plans and produces real, positive changes in the lives of Nigerians.
