Alumni Upskilling: Strengthening Public Service Performance

Behind every effective public institution are leaders who can think clearly under pressure. Our alumni session focused on building that capability.

The session, themed “Decision-Making Under Pressure: Balancing Policy, Ethics and Accountability,” offered a deep dive into the realities public servants face when navigating high-stakes situations. Participants explored practical frameworks that help leaders weigh trade-offs, consider ethical implications, and maintain accountability while still acting decisively. Through case studies, group discussions, and scenario-based exercises, the session helped them understand how to approach complex decisions with structure, clarity, and purpose.

This training is part of our broader commitment to nurturing a strong and connected alumni network. As alumni continue to take on leadership roles across ministries, departments, and agencies, we recognise the importance of providing continuous learning opportunities that reflect the demands of their work. This year, we have delivered four targeted upskilling sessions covering integrity in public procurement, change management in the public sector, effective proposal and report writing, and decision-making under pressure.

Each session was designed to equip alumni with practical tools that they can immediately apply in their roles. From strengthening ethical judgment to improving communication and navigating change, these sessions provide the knowledge and confidence needed to deliver efficient, transparent, and citizen-centred public services.

Our alumni are at the forefront of reform across the continent, and we remain committed to supporting their journey.
