NWDS Workshop: Building a Digitally Enabled Public Service
Discover how we are partnering with the Federal Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation. Through our sponsorship of the Nigeria Web Design Standards Workshop, we took a significant step toward creating consistent and user-friendly government websites, advancing the goal of a digitally enabled public service in Nigeria.
Recognising that inconsistent government websites make it difficult for citizens to access services easily, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy recognised the need to standardise government websites. To achieve this much needed consistency, the ministry convened the Nigeria Web Design Standards Workshop, bringing together design experts and public sector leaders. Participants engaged in important discussions on harmonising design structures and developing shared principles to make digital government more citizen-focused, inclusive, and accessible.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, our Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede CFR, highlighted the urgent need to standardise Nigerian government websites , stressing that having a consistent web design is essential to presenting the government as a unified entity. [Read the full speech here]
In his speech, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, emphasised the power of technology to close the gap between government and citizens, build trust, and deliver better services. He noted that standardising government websites is not just about design, it’s about making online services simple, accessible, and user-friendly for everyone.
This collaborative effort represents a meaningful step toward improving how citizens engage with government services. By laying the groundwork for a more connected and efficient digital experience, the initiative has the potential to reshape how Nigerians interact with their government, making public service delivery more responsive, inclusive, and impactful.
