Rethinking Reforms: Insights from Public Sector Leaders
Nigeria's public service once stood as a beacon of professionalism but today faces critical challenges that demand urgent reform. To understand the root causes of past reform failures and chart a path forward, we convened a focus group session with senior civil servants to gather their insights on what has worked, what hasn't, and how future reforms can succeed.
In a significant move for Nigeria’s digital future, our Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, joined Bill As part of our ongoing research into why reforms fail in Nigeria, we convened senior civil servants who have experienced multiple reform cycles and understand the challenges of implementing change in government to discuss the cause of reform failures and brainstorm solutions.
We presented findings from our research on why reforms fail, examining decades of reform attempts. Participants then shared their experiences with reform barriers and offered practical solutions based on their firsthand experiences.
The discussions produced actionable recommendations for designing reforms that can outlive political transitions and improve service delivery. The insights from the focus discussion will inform our final research report and help develop stronger frameworks for future initiatives. By engaging those who implement reforms directly, we ensure our solutions are practical and grounded in real experience.
