Please share your educational and professional background

I graduated with a B.A. in Foreign Languages from the University of Benin. Growing up in Nigeria, I was inspired by my father’s storytelling, which was rich with folklores and central themes. This early exposure sparked my understanding of the power of strategic messaging. As I honed my skills as a communicator, I gravitated toward addressing critical social issues.

What inspired you to pursue a career in the development sector?

I’ve always believed in the transformative power of communications, especially in driving social change. From a young age, I realised that through strategic messaging, we can positively influence behaviours and perceptions. My passion lies in using communications to address societal issues and drive real change—whether through advocating for gender equality or raising awareness about public sector reforms.

What do you do at the Foundation?

As a Communications Associate at the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, I work on amplifying the Foundation’s impact through clear, strategic messaging. From content creation and digital strategy to media engagement and advocacy, I ensure that our initiatives are communicated effectively to our target audience. My role demands I work with all the teams at the Foundation from the capacity building team to consulting, to health philanthropy and so on, enabling me to contribute to the Foundation’s broad range of impactful projects.

What does your typical day look like?

A typical day involves brainstorming and executing digital campaigns, collaborating with the team on new initiatives, and working with external partners and media outlets. I’m constantly engaged with content creation, writing blogs, creating social media posts, and helping craft communications for various events. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work exciting and fulfilling!

What makes the work that we do at the Foundation unique?

What sets the Foundation apart is its holistic approach to public sector development. We are involved in everything, from capacity building to consulting, research and health philanthropy. As communicators, we are embedded in each project, ensuring that every aspect, no matter how technical, is communicated clearly and effectively. This cross-disciplinary involvement allows us to make a meaningful impact and learn continuously from different fields.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

What I find most rewarding is the ability to make a real difference, even if communications work is often behind the scenes. The work we do at the Foundation is truly impactful, and it's a privilege to be a part of projects that contribute to positive societal change. I love being able to communicate complex ideas and help others understand them, whether it’s related to public sector reforms, healthcare, or leadership development. It’s fulfilling to know that my work helps inform, inspire, and create change.
